Anyone else catch this?
It's a summer replacement series on CBS. I think there will be only six episodes (more may have been shot, but that's all that CBS is going to air, if I understand correctly). CBS never picked it up for the regular schedule, so what we see is what there is.
It's about a couple--Bruce and Susan Miller--in the 70s (1976 to be specific) who have moved into a new and bigger home a few blocks from their old place. Their new neighbors, Tom and Trina Decker, are swingers. They invite the Millers to a 4th of July party which has more going on than just outdoor grilling and fireworks (albeit down in the basement playroom). Their old neighbors, Janet and Roger Thompson, end up going to the party with them. It's the seventies, baby. Drugs and sex and rock and roll.
There are also storylines following the Miller and Thompson kids. (We really liked a bit player, the girl who played Becky...something. One of the boys in the show was bragging about how far he'd gotten with her to his friends. She ambushed him later in the episode and kicked the crap out of him (literally--she kicked him repeatedly while he was down) and forced him to recant and threatened worse if ever dared lie about her again....)
My wife and both enjoyed the show. We also marveled at how thoroughly they capture the look and feel of the seventies. I'm always amazed at how much work must go into recreating a 30 years gone era.
Plus, I have to say that Lana Parilla (Trina Decker) is just gorgeous. I'd watch just about anything she's in anyhow.
