Nicole Kidman, that is.  I've got the Letterman show on.  She's...scary looking.  Her eyes are narrow (the way your eyes look when you press your fingertips into the skin at the outside corners and pull them back).  Her cheeks and forehead are so tight they're shiny.  The tip of he nose looks like it's been worked on as well.  Her hair is "artfully" tangled and she's giddy and giggly.

It's really kind of sad.

I've thought she was scary for *years*, but it has gotten worse recently. All those pointed features (and not just on her) give the subconscious impression of sharp-edged, unpleasant personalities. Not exactly the most appealing image. One wonders what Hollywood is thinking...

"...Hollywood is thinking".

There's your problem right there. A wrong assumption always leads to confusion.

I think they're chasing an impossible standard, which is hardly news. Beautiful women are plentiful in every town and city. Hollywood is awash in them, and more--and younger ones--arrive everyday. That's got to be frightening when your looks are a major part of what makes your career possible. It reminds me of the cliche of the western gunfighter who can't escape the young guns looking to make a name for themselves; sooner or later he's going to be too slow on the draw, but he has no choice but to keep playing.
