From a list of 100 allegedly underrated movies. I don't agree. Some are just as awful and painful to watch as they're reputed to be.

1. A Simple Plan (1998) - Greed and stupidity in a small town. I don't remember much except that I was disappointed that this Sam Raimi/Bill Paxton outing was populated by people who were all too stupid to live.

8. Time After Time (1979) - H. G. Wells! Jack the Ripper! Susan B. Anthony! (Well, not that last, not really.) I love this movie. "A hundred years ago, I was a freak. Today...I'm an amateur." David Warner is will always be Jack to me. Plus, it's one the few times Malcolm MacDowell played a good guy....

11. Dragonslayer (1981) - Uhmm...the Peter McNichol film? It was...interesting.

14. Mouse Hunt (1997) - Oh God, just shoot me. My stepson was watching this once on cable.

16. The Blob (1988) - Never saw it. The original scared the shit out of me when I was a wee lad seeing it on television.
17. Contact (1997) - This is one I'll watch every time it turns up on cable. I'm not keen on the ultimate lesson, but it's a great Science is Cool! film.
18. No Escape (1994) - Uhmm...I saw it. Kevin Costner. Spy stuff. Eh.
19. Frequency (2000) - Our hero (the cop) looks like a skanky, greasy no-goodnick and I could never really warm up to him. But it was interesting.
20. Alien 3 (1992) - I can only hope that everyone involved in the writing and production of this film will burn in hell forever.
21. The Iron Giant (1999) - Fun cartoon movie.

25. The Ref (1994) - Allow me to quote Amand_r, who got it exactly right: "Leary is always comedy gold."

31. Fright Night (1985) - One of my two favorite vampire movies. Chris Sarandon is just so perfect. Gorgeous, confident, ruthless and sadistic. Roddy McDowell as Peter Vincent, too. I love it.
32. Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) - Mmm. A lovely woman who's hell on wheels--with Samuel Jackson for a sidekick. What's not to like?

37. Miami Blues (1990) - Fred Ward vs Alec Baldwin. Stolen dentures, finger chopping.
38. The Peacemaker (1997) - Yeah, 'cause I really believe Clooney and Kidman survived. Suuuuuure they did.

40. Die Hard 2: Die Harder (1990) - At the end of the first film, Hans was still going to get away with the cash until Bruce killed him. This guy's plan started folding like a cheap mattress in the first reel.
41. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) - Kate Capshaw. 'Nuff said. No, not enough. My suspension of disbelief was irreparably shattered by the flying mine car landing safely on the tracks again. Yes, it's pulp. No--I still demand that the storyteller respect my intelligence.

50. Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991) - Amusing.

55. One False Move (1992) - Another Bill Paxton film that just didn't work for me.

71. Jackie Brown (1997) - Pam Grier can still open a big ol' can of whoopass.

75. Clean and Sober (1988) - Everyone in Hollywood seems to think that nothing is more riveting than watching somebody fight an addiction. They're wrong.

80. A Knight’s Tale (2001) - Midieval fantasy action with a modern score. Best one since Ladyhawk!

83. Home for the Holidays - Why do people put up with shit like that? 'Cause they're family? Not good enough!

88. Last Boy Scout (1991) - Saw it.

95. The Prophecy (1995) - This is just too cool for words. Christopher Walken as Gabriel, Viggo Mortenson as Satan. Asked why he doesn't ask God something himself, Gabriel looks lost and hurt. "He...doesn't talk to me anymore."

98. The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) - Hula hoops. "Technically--I'm not supposed to do this." Surreal and very entertaining.
