The debate on rec.arts.sf.fandom about, well, everything political has gotten quite heated lately.  One might even say "nasty."  The death of Rachel "Roadkill" Corrie in the mideast recently is one such topic.  And a couple of people have apparently decided to make my wife, Snippy, the scapegoat for their hostility.  She has displayed, you see, the temerity to withhold judgement on what happened.

Snippy has neither accepted the groupthink consensus that the Israeli bulldozer driver is eeeevil (tm), or coming out as a crank (i.e., outright disagreeing, and thereby proving her villainy and/or stupidity), she's withholding judgment.  She suggests that we don't have all the facts.  Not an unreasonable position, one might think (unless one is in the habit of making snap judgements based on conflicting media reports from half a world away).

But apparently, that's an unreasonable position to some denizens of rasseff.

Del Cotter--well, I've not had much respect for his opinions anyhow.

Ulrika O'Brien--to the degree that I held an opinion about her previously, it was mildly favorable, if vague on the specifics.  Now, having seen her posts in the thread in question, I can only conclude that I was mistaken.  She appears to be a closeminded asshole.
