Anywhere from hundreds to a couple of thousand pointy-headed "peace" protestors have been blocking major commuter streets, the light rail line and even I-5 and I-84 tonight.  It started about 5-5:30 p.m. with a march thru downtown which blocked the streets and delayed commuters (including me) trying to get home.

I don't know what they're attempting to accomplish except to feed their own egos.  They must know they're going to have no effect on the war.  It isn't even as if they're blocking logging operations in defense of old growth timber (which at least has a purpose, even if you disagree with their goals or their methods).  This is simply making a nuisance of yourself to inconvenience your fellow citizens to no good end.  It isn't going to engender good will, I suspect.

The police have been remarkably restrained so far, given that we have Mark Kroeker (formerly of the LAPD) as our police chief.  That's good, however much I detest these assholes (the protesters, just in case that isn't clear).

So Snippy and I are watching the local news coverage of the pointy-headed "peace" protesters (still).  The station cuts to a female reporter who's standing in the street near the protesters.  She comments that the average age of the protesters seems to be about 20.  She mentions that they're chanted "Bush kills for oil!" and seem to want to get that soundbite on the air.  And then she says "Aside from that soundbite, I doubt they could explain anything else."

Heh heh.  Snarky commentary from the reporter.  I like it.
