Running and Chocolate
Jun. 7th, 2006 08:54 pmTwo great things that go great togeth--no, wait, no they don't. They're both enjoyable, but they don't go great together. At the very least, the chocolate will get all melty in the heat, and get all over your sweaty hand, and trying to eat while you're running just sounds unpleasant and even messier.
I've started running again. After about two months off for one reason or another, I resumed exercising again this week. It was past time. I could tell that my energy level had slipped since I stopped running. I could definitely tell that my endurance wasn't what it was before I got sick and stopped running. And I was feeling fat.
So I'm back at it, and I'm glad. My legs are aching tonight from the unaccustomed exercise, but they'll get over it. On the other hand, I still enjoy being able to run for that length of time and not be exhausted.
In other news, I went to Safeway tonight in search of chocolate. I had a craving that would not be denied. Okay, I could have denied it, but I chose not to. Anyhow...
I went looking for a particular sort of chocolate bar that
snippy likes a lot. They were out. Several other varieties were fully stocked, but the one I wanted to get for her? Just an empty space on the shelf. Then I went looking for a package of chocolates that I like. Same story. A whole shelf full of stuff I didn't want, but the one I did want? Just an empty space on the shelf.
Ah ha! I thinks to myself--ice cream! I"ll get some ice cream! But...you guessed it. Everything but what I was looking for was fully stocked. All I saw in the allotted space was emptiness.
I hate this Safeway!
