Seeing as it's March 1st and the first time I've gone running in (ack!) weeks, it's time for a fresh start.  Hence the title of this post.  I'm going to track my running consistency here for at least a few months.

I really slacked off on the running this last month.  What with being out of town for a few days, then coming down with a cold, and with rain or cold or both, I let my running regimen lapse.  But tonight I got home from work, changed into my running outfit and hit the road.

It was easier than I'd fearer, but not as easy as I'd hoped.  The little voice in my head urging me to stop running was insistent but not terribly loud or effective.  I could ignore it, and did.  I managed to run the full 30 minutes, though I didn't run the entire distance I can cover in 30 minutes when I'm in top form.

Even after taking a month off, I didn't find myself gasping for air or even being particularly tired.  I was sweating and breathing heavily by the time I was done, but not exhausted--and that's one of the big benefits of this exercise routine.  I like being able to work like that and not feel wrung out at the end.  I like it that my breathing is back to normal in about four minutes, and my lungs are never burning even when I'm running.

For a guy who spends all day sitting at a desk and much of my evenings frequently doing the same, that's pretty good.  I expect my muscles will be a little stiff tomorrow, but that's to be expected.  A little hair of the dog that bit 'em on Friday will help.

So, the stats:

Week One, Day One:  Thirty Minutes.  Check.
