Friday Five
Apr. 11th, 2003 02:04 pm1. What was the first band you saw in concert?
Bachman Turner Overdrive, when I was in high school. It's also the last band I saw in concert. A concert-goer I ain't.
2. Who is your favorite artist/band now?
Oingo Boingo. I love their bouncy tunes and grim (if not morbid) lyrics. Whenever I participate in a lyric wheel, I invariably send out Oingo Boingo lyrics. (On the other hand, I have to listen to my CDs with headphones. For some reason, that bouncy music sends my Lovely & Talented Wife into a tailspin of depression and unhappiness. I don't know why, and neither does she. But it does.)
3. What's your favorite song?
I can't pick just one. I've never been able to answer this sort of question. My one favorite song (or movie or book, etc.)? I can't do it!
4. If you could play any instrument, what would it be?"
The banjo. I play the piano already (or did, it's been years). I love playing ragtime on the piano for the same reason I'd love to be able to pick Foggy Mountain Breakdown, Dueling Banjos and other such things on a banjo. They're just fun to listen to, but they also require skill. You have to be good to play that stuff.
5. If you could meet any musical icon (past or present), who would it be and why?
Uhm...nobody springs to mind. I'm with Rhi on this one--I'd rather listen to the music than meet the musician.
