The American Revolution and the founding of the nation that followed was unusual compared to most revolutions in that the men who were at the center of it all were intelligent, thoughtful, and respectful themselves of law, making them reluctant to foment revolution against England. This suggests to me that the founding of the US itself ingrained in our national culture a profound respect for law. Taking the article into account and looking forward through history from then till now, it's easy to see how this respect has been warped into a kind of blind faith.
