It takes up a lot less floor space in the dining room, which makes
snippy happy, though she wants to get some sort of small enclosed cabinet/cupboard thing to hide the modem, router, surge protector and tangle of wires from prying eyes. And it could use one more shelf along the top. And I want to brace it more thoroughly to make sure it's stable. But I have my standing desk now.
And it's working. The high stool with back (not pictured) we got for me lets me sit for a little if I want, but I'm using it as little as possible. The point of this exercise is to stand, not sit on a higher chair after all.
The new (lighter) flatscreen monitor is very nice. Alas, my video card doesn't support the full 1200 x 900 pixel display the monitor is capable of. So eventually I suppose I'll have to upgrade my video card.
