Back On Track
Apr. 29th, 2010 11:53 pmAfter a few days when my writing mojo was weak, I was back on track today (well, yesterday now). I added 4200 words to my novel. I'd written myself into a corner. The section of the novel I'd been writing had petered out and I didn't know what to do or where to go with it. I added a little to it earlier this week, and worked on a short story some, and accomplished essentially nothing yesterday.
Today I went back and continued an earlier section of the novel, one I'd left incomplete (it's an episodic story). That worked very well. That story flowed quite well and it isn't done yet. It can go on for quite some time, I think, getting my hero and his sidekick into deeper and deeper trouble. Bad for them, but oh so good for me. They arrived on planet just in time to have their ship impounded, then managed to survive a riot at the starport as crowds of thousands stormed the place, hoping to escape before the planetary government collapses into anarchy. And things will only get worse before they get better.
That's more like it! I am very pleased with what I wrote today, and I'm looking forward to drawing out my characters' discomfort tomorrow....
