Feb. 11th, 2010 04:41 pmI did some writing today, but I did more un-writing than that, for a net loss of not quite a thousand words on the novel today. As I mentioned yesterday, I'm having to dispense with some of what I'd written originally as the new words take the plot in a somewhat different direction. But that's okay. I've got the story going in a new direction and I think it'll work just fine. So I refuse to beat myself up over the word count. I still plan to have it finished by the end of the month. Then I'll be figuring out which five publishers to send query letters to. And, of course, starting the NEXT one.
In other, happier news, I got those three rejected stories out today. "In Adversity", "Drowned", and "Man-Ape" went out to Asimov's, Alfred Hitchcock's, and Clarkesworld, respectively. Two by snailmail, one via online submission form. I expect to hear back from Clarkesworld within a couple of days. (It'll probably be in my in-box well before I return from RadCon on Sunday afternoon/evening.
Project: Strange Attractors
Words Written Today: -939 (yes, that's a negative number. I wrote, but I deleted more words than I added)

Stories in Circulation: 11
Rejections: 29
Stories Accepted: SEVEN
Stories to Resubmit: 0
