Writing! Again! And Gaming!

sinanjuSo I haven't updated since last Friday? Yikes.
Yeah, I've had a bit of a slump. Or a crisis of confidence. I didn't feel like I was accomplishing anything in the writing department--and my feelings were accurately mirroring reality.
But I'm doing better now. Wish I'd written more already, but at least I'm writing. And--Note to Self!--it's on something I didn't consciously start. I just started writing yesterday, had a couple of false starts, then started on a scene I've been toying with in my imagination for quite a while. Got some good stuff down on paper (or, uh, electrons) yesterday, and continued it today. Part of the reason I haven't written more is that it's deep hot point of view, and that's always slower going than more "camera's eye" stuff.
But the important thing is, it's going! And there are other scenes in the bank--stuff I've done previously with an eye toward writing this story--that I'll have to go back and reread. I expect I can use some of it to help fill out this tale. So I'm happy with the last couple of days' work.
Tonight is my gaming group's second session with Seventh Sea! It's a swashbuckling pirate & musketeers type game world. I created and played a Usurran (Russian, basically) named Vaslovik for the first session, but I'd never played the system before so there were some definite holes in the character concept.
For tonight's game, I'm playing a new character I've designed this week now that I have a better idea how the game works. We'll see how it goes.
