I suck!

No, wait. Not me. It's this damn cold that sucks. Sucks the energy right out of me, that is!

I have no excuse for my failure to post anything since my last rambling brain dump in November. I sit down at the computer and...I got nothin'. I've been doing a lot more sitting on the couch and reading of late. It's a lot easier.

I was actually in bed by midnight last night! Do you have any idea how tired I have to be before that happens? I don't feel bad now--that stage of this bug has passed--but darned if I don't feel puny by early evening. We hates it, we does.

And I mean that in the best possible way. At the risk of being a poopyhead I'm going to offer some advice (selfishly, so that I'll have stuff to read when I check in here every day.) The next time you sit down at the computer and you've got nothing, consider the following:

What's bugging me right now?
What am I reading that's so good that I'm not writing right now?
What happy thing has happened lately?
Weather.
News.
The last shopping trip.
Teaser to a short story.
Writing from a prompt. (If you don't have a book of writing prompts then you need a big spanking.)
The last time you got spanked.
What it looks like outside.
What it looks like inside.
What you have on your computer desk and why.
What is the color of mourning?
If you pay attention to what you're wearing and why or why not.
Whether you like talking on the phone and why or why not.
Holiday stress or non-stress.
Upcoming vacations.
Convention commentary.
Panel discussions that are still tickling your brain.
Home discussions that make you think.
What you're doing to get yourself to start writing short stories, and whether it's working.

That should keep you busy, at least for a little while.
