Plot Bunny du Jour
Apr. 30th, 2006 11:48 pmNow that I've signed up for
crossovers100 I've been thinking about possibilities. I always like to try to find a way to work in odd or unusual fandoms and I think I've come up with a good one. The working title of the story I'm toying with currently is:
I think the title really sums it up. But just in case...
It's the 1970s. Daisy Adair is working as Reaper in Los Angeles, collecting the souls of individuals who are about to die by violence. Unfortunately, several of her reaps lately have been investigated by Lieutenant Columbo. He knows she isn't involved in the murders--he's Columbo, for God's sake. But he's also aware that she's been seen repeatedly interacting with the soon-to-be-dead victims only minutes (sometimes moments) before their untimely demises. It's made him curious about her.
And when someone like Columbo starts prying into the life of a Reaper, there are lots of interesting things to uncover. Her identity, for one (Daisy Adair died in 1939). Or the fact that she's apparently squatting in the home of someone who died months or years ago. That she has no visible means of support. That she seems to turn up at the scenes of murders, suicides and accidents on a daily basis, though there's no evidence to suggest that she's caused any of them.
I have this mental image of Columbo standing in the doorway of Daisy's home. "Oh, just one last thing, Miss Adair...."
