First, the Non-Lucid Dream -- In my dreams last night I was chewing on something like a Reisen candy when I realized I was biting on something hard.  I spit it out and discover that one my molars is stuck to it and has apparently pulled completely free!  Yikes!  I'm appalled and alarmed.  Then I begin trying to find a dentist, not having one I see regularly, and especially given that my health insurance recently changed (in real life) so that I get--or will get, when I get around to it--my dental care from a new provider.  While this is going on, I start losing more teeth, by twos and threes until I'm left with maybe one or two teeth like some cartoon backwoods redneck!

I'm very upset about this, not surprisingly, and my lovely and talented wife is doing her best to help me and comfort me, which is exactly as she'd behave in real life.  She's a rock.  Is my subconscious mind not-so-subtly kicking me in the ass about making an appointment to have my teeth examined?  Survey says: yes!

Then the Lucid Dream -- At some point during this dental nightmare (literally), my subconscious went a little too far, overplayed its hand, and I realized that I was dreaming.  I felt like my remaining lower teeth were too large.  Looking into a mirror, I saw that they were halfout of their socket (singular--the two teeth were a single unit with integrated circuitry visible on the root), looking as if they merely needed to be properly seated like a video card into a motherboard to fit properly again.  That's when I realized that my teeth weren't the only part of my body that was displaying such circuitry.

Bwa-ha-ha-ha!  I chortled and rubbed my metaphorical hands together in mad scientist-style glee.  I'm dreaming!  Better still, I'm aware that I'm dreaming!  This is gonna be fun!  I told snippy that I was dreaming, and that I didn't like how this dream was going, so I was going to change it.  I stepped out the door and took off for a long flight around the neighborhood, which was every bit as much fun as you might imagine it would be.  Alas, sooner than I'd have liked my lucidity slid over into actual wakefulness.  Darn!  On the other hand, all my teeth were back in my mouth where they're supposed to be.

It's been a while since I had a lucid dream.  They're always fun.
