Weekend Update
Jun. 19th, 2005 11:00 pmFriday I finished securing all my personal files on my work PC. Tomorrow morning I will go in to find either a new PC or the old PC with the hard drive reimaged (I'm not entirely sure which). Novell Groupwise is out; Microsoft Outlook is in. Then I'll move some of my personal files from my network drive back onto the C: drive and restore most of the rest from a CD I burned.
After work, as reported by
snippy, she went off to craft night at a friend's house. I also left the house to check out the local game club (dead--only three guys playing Battletech), then across the river to check out The Lucid Dream Machine, a gaming location I'd heard about but never visited. It turned out to be a video arcade, essentially. Lots of X-Boxes, Ninetendos, Playstations, etc. I knew that was a big part of the draw, but I had hopes that they also catered to tabletop wargaming and/or RPGs, but no. Oh well. Then I dropped by to visit with
dtaylor, her husband and a mutual friend. We played Munchkin Bites for a while before I got killed off and decided to head home.
Saturday,
snippy and I went out for breakfast as detailed in her journal. I had two fried eggs, bacon, and a scone. Very tasty indeed, though next time I'll ask them to cook the bacon crispier. Then we did chores and eventually had friends over for gaming. It was a good day.
This morning I got up about 11 a.m. after having lengthy and vivid dreams about flying and being pursued by people interested in my ability to fly. Then I went out for a run. I did the full 20 minute run without taking a break this time (better than last week!). Once I'd cooled off and showered, the wife and I went out to see Batman Begins. I enjoyed the movie, though I had some serious quibbles with the plot, especially toward the end. On the other hand, it was no Batman and Robin, so I was happy to watch it. We also saw the Serenity trailer, and I am so looking forward to seeing that!
After the movie we did some shopping, picking up a new lawnmower so I can cut the grass and we can save the price of hiring it done. That was a luxury we've enjoyed since we got married, but we'd rather spend the money on other things now. And it's not like I can't use the exercise; yes, I'm running three times a week now, but I still sit at a desk all day at work and frequently in the evenings at home. Cutting the grass will be good for me.
...shazbat! I called my dad back in Virginia for Father's Day but nobody was home. I left a message say that I'd call again later, but I never did and it's too late now. Damn.
