Specifically, Gilmore girls - Season One, Invader Zim - Set Three, Angel - Season One, Addams Family Values and The Mummy.
snippy has been hankering after the Gilmore girls set for a while now, so since buying stuff this weekend would get us triple Replay points at the video store, I dropped in to pick it up. And as long as I was there and getting triple points, I grabbed the Angel set, and, well, they had a 2 for $20 sale rack and the two films were there and I like watching them, and then the Invader Zim set (another present for
snippy) was on sale....
So I've spent plenty o' money this weekend already, and it's only Saturday!
On the other hand, I doubt I'll be buying any more Angel seasons. Maybe season two. Maybe. But that's it. After that, the show got stupider and stupider, before spinning off into jaw-droppingly bad and stupid with the whole Connor storyline and all that followed.
And
snippy has run away from home for a day or two. Maybe three. So I'm on my own, living the carefree bachelor lifestyle. Which is remarkably similar to my married lifestyle, frankly. And to my bachelor lifestyle before we got married. Except no donuts and whores. Well, no whores, anyhow. There have been donuts since we got married. But not this weekend.
Moving on...
In other news, we've got Tivo. We've had it for a couple of months now. So far, we have season passes for Gilmore girls, Stargate: SG-1, Everwood, ER, Lost, Smallville, Justice League Unlimited, Stargate Atlantis, The Venture Brothers, Joan of Arcadia, Veronica Mars, Law & Order, Boston Legal, Third Watch, Law & Order reruns on TNT, Invader Zim, and Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars.
Gilmore girls -- great show. We make a point of watching it together. I even sit on the sofa with my sweetie instead of watching it from my computer desk.
Stargate: SG-1 -- Still watching it, but it's not what it used to be, alas.
Everwood -- I'm not as enthralled as I once was, but still entertaining for the most part.
ER -- Always fun in a soap operatic kind of way.
Lost -- Very interesting so far, even if the characters mostly don't know their asses from a hole in the ground. Any group of halfway-competent roleplaying gamers would do a better job of dealing with survival issues.
Smallville -- I watch Lost live and Tivo this, then watch it with my finger on the fast-forward button. Not a good sign. The cast (Clark, Lois, Lana, Chloe, Lex) is awfully pretty, but with the exception of Chloe and Lex, they don't dazzle you with their IQs, just their smiles.
Justice League -- Only seen a couple so far. Okay, but not wowing me.
Stargate Atlantis -- About to roundfiled under "terminally stupid." They took the premise of Stargate: SG-1 and then methodically wrung out of it everything that made it a unique and interesting sf show in order to cram in generic, bad Trek-clone drivel.
Venture Brothers -- Side-splittingly funny...to me. My beloved doesn't care for it.
Joan of Arcadia -- My beloved watches this; I see it occasionally. It's okay.
Veronica Mars -- We both like this one a lot, what we've seen of it so far, anyhow.
Boston Legal -- Another new show. Only two eps so far, but we both love it. I don't think it will hold up for more than a season at best. But right now, it's amazing.
Third Watch -- My beloved just started watching this. I don't.
Law & Order reruns -- We never watched this show until we started watching reruns a few months ago on TNT, then we got hooked. So we've got 14 years of epis to catch up on.
Invader Zim -- Weird, twisted, funny.
Farscape --I was never a big fan of the show, but I figured I'd tivo the miniseries and try it.
