Waiting for Carbasa - A Highlander fic I wrote in which two other characters brought together by Benny Carbasa discuss a number of other things, but little or nothing about Benny, who finally shows up at the end--unlike Godot. I like rehabilitating villains and minor characters who don't get much attention or respect. Benny Carbasa is one of the latter. And he lasted longer than Richie did, so he's got something going for him.
Even Villains Need Friends - Another Highlander fic. Nobody is a villain in his own mind, and Xavier St. Cloud fascinates me for reasons I've explained before elsewhere. I believe he must have real friends somewhere, and a life that would surprise those who knew him only as a headhunter. This is it.
When Worlds Collide - A Crossover Lyric Wheel story--Highlander and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I love crossover stories, and I wanted to write a story from the POV of a character who discovers that the world is stranger than even he imagined, and he thought he knew the biggest secret the world held--and who sees Buffy in full-on Slayer mode and is as shocked as one ought to be by that.
The Runners-Up - This started as an exercise, part of my "write 1000 words a day" habit of years ago. On this particular day I simply wrote a battle scene between two immortals in the Highlander universe. Only after I went back to revise it did I figure out that they were among the runners up in the battle for the Prize in the first Highlander film. (The winner here is the nameless fellow whose head was found in New Jersey. "_I_ know his name," the Kurgan says.)
Falling - "I"ve saved your life, Roy Tam. It now belongs to me!" the Shadow said. But what if someone didn't want to be an agent of some mysterious crime-fighter even so? What if he betrayed his savior...and then encountered him on a windy rooftop?
