It's Official
Sep. 27th, 2003 06:16 pmI'm a gamegeek. I went out and bought a joystick to improve my flying in Battlefield 1942. Up til now, I was just playing the game with my existing hardware and the game software. Okay, and some game mods. And more game mods. But now I've made the effort to go to FOUR stores trying to find a specific joystick.
I was looking for a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 (not the later P3). The first two stores (computer game stores at the mall) didn't have it. Then I tried to drive up I-5 to CompUSA at 8 p.m. on Friday night, but the highway was backed up as far as the eye could see. An accident, I suppose. So I blew it off and went home.
Drove out to CompUSA today with
snippy and got a Logictech Extreme 30 Pro joystick. And a router and some ethernet cable to network
snippy's computer and Twoson's X-Box with mine so we can share the cablemodem.
The joystick has definitely made flying easier. Easy-ER, not easy. I still need to do a lot of practicing. But now I can practice actually flying, not trying to master controls that were never meant to operate a plane....
