A few things that occurred to me upon viewing this week's Studio 60 episode.

  • Matt is an arrogant prick. I really wonder what Harriet sees in him. He doesn't hesitate to express (loudly and often) his contempt for her politics, her religion, and her intelligence. (Really. He thinks her values are laughable and that she associates with lowbrow bigots and morons. What other conclusion is there? It's not like he gives her the respect of simply--if strongly--disagreeing with her on these things. No, he mocks and derides them--and her--at every opportunity.)
  • Just as I expected feared, Darrell(?)--the new writer--learned A Valuable Life Lesson from that arrogant asshole Simon. I really wanted to see Darrell tell Simon to stuff it up his ass, that he was not going to call him "Sir" and he was also not going work on that damned Angry Black Fruit sketch, and if Simon didn't like it he was free to get Darrell fired and Darrell would find another job.
  • Danny wasn't kidding when he told Jordan (last week) that getting trapped together on the roof was an essential part of every romantic comedy. It worked like a charm, too. Jordan went from "Stop acting like a creepy stalker" to "I'm crazy about you!" with the kind of abruptness that smacks of the pudgy hand of God. Color me skeptical of this all-to-quick-and-easy resolution of that conflict. (Oh, I expect lots of further problems, but...geez. At least try for a little plausibility, whydontcha?)
  • On the other hand, I really liked the conversation between Jack Rudolph and Asian Billionaire.
    • "You speak English."
    • "A few words."
    • "Which words?"
    • "All of them."
    •
    • "I know you think she'll thank you some day, but I think it'll be in your sleep."
