snippy and I had a very low-key, low-energy day. Given that we don't celebrate Christmas in our house, what with her being Jewish, that shouldn't be too surprising. We basically just hung around the house listening to music, reading and relaxing. Twoson is here visiting for a few days. We had baked potatoes and honey baked ham slices for dinner and watched (most of) the Peter Jackson King Kong.
It's the extended version, with all the deleted scenes reinserted. That was a mistake. They were apparently deleted for good reason. Every individual scene was good (and the movie is gorgeous to look at), but...every scene went on interminably. What ought to have been tense and exciting became monotonous and dreary because it went on and on and on. (Plus, the objections that someone on my friends list--theferrett ? zamiel ? somebody--made in their review of the movie. For all the deaths that occur in the film, they're strangely unaffecting. And some of the action destroys any suspension of disbelief.)
Ah well. In other news, I watched the last two episodes of the current (in the USA) season of Doctor Who. I was shocked and appalled to learn that ( possible spoiler here for anyone who hasn't seen them yet )
Not that I'll be lacking for shows to watch. In addition to a number of shows returning from hiatus in January, I've added one new (new to me, anyhow) show to my season pass list: Hex, a British show I've heard good things about. I'm also planning to watch Jake 2.0 on Sci-Fi when it starts up in January; it's a retread of a short-lived series from several seasons ago, but I'll try it. And I'm looking forward very much to The Dresden Files, and hoping they live up to the novels. (Or at least are as watchable as the Lost Room miniseries was.)
Anyway, that's my Christmas.
