It's almost 9:30 p.m.  I got up at 4:30 a.m. today.  Sounds like a long day, but that 4.5 hour catnap I took from 2:30 - 7 p.m. really helped....  I had to be at the convention center this morning at 5:30 to help set up for a breakfast event this morning.  Argh!  I'm a night owl, dammit--not an earlybird.  Getting up at oh-dark-thirty is so not my thing.  But it's only this once, so I endured.

I am shocked and horrified to report that I've discovered a Buffy/Anita Blake fanfic series that I am enjoying...despite the fact that Dawn is one of the main characters.  My antipathy toward Dawn is well known (at least to denizens of usenet).  Nonetheless, these stories work.  If anyone is interested, it's The Key's Watcher series on the Twisting the Hellth website; I found the link in the crossoverfic LJ community.  Giles and Dawn get involuntarily exiled to the Anita Blake-verse and take up residency there.  It apparently turns into Giles/Jean Claude slash at some point...but not so far in my reading.  I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

Scrubs is funnier than I'd thought.  I saw several episodes while visiting [livejournal.com profile] dtaylor during her post-surgery recuperation.  Her husband gave her a DVD set and they, another visiting friend and I watched several episodes.  It isn't nearly as stupid as I'd thought based on the few commercials I remember seeing for it.  Silly, yes, and sometimes stupid--but funny and stupid, which makes all the difference.

I think it may be time to think about buying a new pair of running shoes.  I've been running thrice weekly for months now, beginning in May when I began the Couch Potato to 5K program.  That's about five months, and I've read that the typical useful lifespan of running shoes is about six months.  Given that the shoes I wear weren't new when I started, they're probably due to be downgraded to everyday sneaker service and replaced.  I'm starting to feel twinges in my knees and ankles or feet when (and after) I run; that's a pretty good sign that they're wearing out, I think--I'm not running any farther or faster than I was a month ago, so....  Fortunately, a new pair of mid-priced running shoes isn't outrageously expensive.
