I'm writing (another) novel. Tentatively entitled, Iron Maiden, it should come as no surprise that the main character is the eponymous Iron Maiden (who can also be seen in several of my published stories at Cobblestone Press). As with the first novel, written in November for NaNoWriMo, I seesaw between thinking it's pretty good and thinking it's crap. I will, nonetheless, finish it. And then I'll let
snippy (
snippy) read it.
I finally broke down and let her read the first one, which turned out a lot better than I remembered it being. It needs work before it'll be in condition to send out--but it's viable. Which I confess I never thought at the time it would ever be.
In other news, I got an email from Brandi at Cobblestone Press today. She wants to buy "Fast Friends" (one of two stories I have there awaiting their response), but she wanted to feel me out about expanding it slightly. I've been writing Wicked erotica (5-10K shorts), and "Fast Friends" is one such. It's a long one, not quite long enough for their 'Tryst' series (10-20K words), but she thinks it would be a good fit for that category, and how would I feel about that?
It would also mean that the story would require a HEA (happily ever after) ending, as opposed to the "well, THAT was fun" endings acceptable in the shorter Wicked erotica series. So I wouldn't be able to send these characters out to "play" with other characters as I've done with some of the other recurring characters in my previous stories.
That's fine by me. I've been thinking of branching out into longer stories, and other genres. I'm having fun writing superhero and conemporary stories, but I suspect stories in more traditional genres (which for paranormal romance means shifters, vampires, and the like) would sell better. So reworking this one to fit the longer category seems like a good way to get my feet wet.
Project: Iron Maiden

Stories in Circulation: 13
Rejections: 25
Stories Accepted: FIVE (Six, kinda...)
