Day Two: Ruminations

sinanjuI didn't write as many words today as I did yesterday. I spent more than three hours writing today, but a lot of it was cleaning up and revising what I'd done yesterday on Story #1. That's not the right approach. Too much Critic, not enough Creator. Wrong mindset, in other words.
Tomorrow I'll try to get back to the creative flow state. That's where I need to be when I write.
I also need to start writing a novel. That's where the money (such money as there is) in writing is to be found. If I put in 1,284 words per day (what I wrote today) I could have 90,000 words written in 14 weeks--and that's only writing 5 days a week and taking weekends off. If I write faster or work more days per week, I'd get it written that much sooner.
I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon with our tax accountant to discuss the tax issues involved in working freelance, as a contract employee or self-employed as a writer. Once I know what landmines to watch out for, it'll be time to start looking into the contract database opportunities.
Huh. It's only been two days so far, so maybe it'll change. But after spending three hours (or more) writing in the morning, my desire to write any other fiction--in my various on-line games, primarily--is virtually nil. On the other hand, I'm thinking a lot more all the time about my fiction. What I'm writing, what I might write, how I might use a character or a scene or an idea. That stuff seems to be occupying all of my creative brainmeats currently.
