The future is now
Jul. 2nd, 2003 12:00 amThis morning as I was walking from the parking garage to work, I stopped--as I usually do--at the local newstand to buy a cup of ice and a muffin. As I was paying for them I noticed something new at the counter. A small (less than 12 inches on a side) square flatscreen display. It was hawking the Wall Street Journal. It cycled through a number of teasers for stories in the current issue.
Now that was cool. The computerized, electronic newspaper ad is here. We're not totally futuristic, since they're using this nifty gadget to sell papers on, well, paper. But is there any reason to assume that they won't eventually include a port on the display that would allow you to download the day's paper into your Palm or some other electronic device? None that I can think of.
