Name your top six TV shows right now, before reading the questions.

1. Heroes
2. Smallville
3. Bones
4. Supernatural
5. Dr. Who
6. Veronica Mars

01. Who is your favourite character from #2?

No contest: Chloe Sullivan. I don't watch Smallville for Clark. I watch it for Chloe. Well, and for the opportunity to MST-ify the silly plots and dialogue. I used to watch it for the slash-tastic sparkage between Clark and Lex, but now that they're actively opposed to one another, not so much sparkage these days.

02. Who is your least favourite character from #4?

Sam. I've seen him described as "Emo Boy" in various places, and boy does that fit! My favorite character is Bob, the middle-aged goold ole boy Hunter. He's smart and careful and I like seeing a redneck white guy who is actually a hero, albeit not THE hero.

03. What would a crossover between #1 and #5 include?

Dr. Who shows up to help fix the future when it becomes apparent that the heroes alone can't manage it.

04. Who is your favourite ship from #6?

Uh....none of them. I don't have a dog in that fight. No, wait--Veronica and Mac?

05. If you were to set one person from #3 and one person from #6 on a blind date, who would they be?

Booth (Bones) and Veronica. Give her a chance to see the inner workings of the FBI--and realize that such a straitlaced organization is not in her future.

06. If you could meet one person from #4 and spend the day with them, who would it be, and what would you do?

It would be Bob, the redneck good ole boy Hunter. We'd go shooting, and I'd pick his brain about the supernatural. What's real? What isn't? What are the recommended ways to avoid becoming monster chow, and how do you kill the various sorts of monsters when the shit hits the fan.

07. If you could change one thing about #2's plot line, what would you change?

I would hammer a stake into the Lana/Clark angstfest that they've been dragging out for the entire length of the series. Clark would GET OVER IT.

Alternatively, Lana would embrace her destiny, wholeheartedly joining Lex in his attempts to dominate the world. She would begin demonstrating heretofore untapped depths of cunning and ruthlessness, becoming his really-o, truly-o Right Hand Gal. And Clark, poor deluded Clark, would be utterly convinced that Lex had corrupted her when in fact she'd joined him willingly, of her own free will. Now _that's_ a source of eternal conflict I can get behind.

08. Explain a relationship between two people (not necessarily romantic) from show #5, and why you like the relationship between them.

Dr. Who #9 and Mickey. They have very little use for one another, but they're forced to keep rubbing elbows by their mutual affection for Rose and necessity of working together to save her and/or the world from the various threats that pop up Who-verse with alarming regularity.

09. If the lead title characters (first name in the credits) from #1 and #3 were both drowning, and you could only save one, who would it be?

Uh...the lead(s) from Bones. The Heroes can save themselves.

10. If you could change the title characters' order in the credits for #4, what order would you choose?

I'd put Bob first, as a regular. :D

11. If you were able to add a new character, any kind of character you wanted, to the storyline for #6, what would the character be like, and what would their role be?

A new boyfriend for Veronica. I don't know who--just...not Logan.

12. What happens in your favourite episode of show #2?

Chloe finally discovers Clark's Deep Dark Secret when the Meteor Freak du Jour (the teleporting girl) sets it up. She takes Chloe on a terrifying joyride at high speed, calls Clark for help, then teleports them out of the car as Clark arrives to stop it from smashing into a barrier. Chloe is appropriately shocked. Best of all, she doesn't have her memory conveniently erased or experience Sudden Death. She actually learns his awful secret and survives!

13. If you could kill off one of the characters in #1, who would it be and how would you do it?

I'm not feeling especially bloodthirsty and there's no one I think really needs killing.

14. If you got the chance to visit the set for either show #3 or show #5, which would you choose?

# 3, Bones. I might've picked Dr. Who when Chris Eccleston and Billie Piper were in the show, but now--I'd rather meet the cast of Bones.

15. If you could date anyone from any of these shows, which show and which person?

That's a hard choice. Chloe Sullivan is a major contender, but Angela Montenegro (Bones) is right up there. I guess I'd have to flip a coin.

In other news, I started my first fast an hour ago, right after dinner tonight. I won't be eating anything else until after work tomorrow night. That is, assuming I have the moral fiber to stick with it.

Heh.

... me, if I was changing something about Smallville, I'd go right back to Season 1 or 2 or so, and have Clark sit down and have The Talk with Lex, so that they become true best buddies and save the world together. Lex becomes sort of a combination of Professor X, Reed Richards, and Tony Stark (without Stark's "issues") and Clark becomes the nucleus of a world-defending team like none other.

I hate the fact that they had to keep rigging Stupid Stupid Plot Events just to FORCE Lex to turn down the Dark Path.

I think they kind of had to have Lex turn out to be the bad guy--that's canon for Superman. Or maybe not, since they're playing so fast and loose with the rest of the canon. But that doesn't mean it has to be done stupidly, I agree. Even if they insist on having him become the bad guy, he could become the bad guy simply because he's, you know, flawed.

There's Clark, corn-fed midwest Hero. And Lex, billionaire genius. They work together but Lex can't help taking the easy way now and then, always rationalizing that it's for the best; and every time he goes a little farther, rationalizing all the while. Clark has power and doesn't hesitate to use it; Lex is simply using his own power, that it's money and cleverness doesn't change the equation, right? A little bribery or intimidation is necessary now and then, can't make an omelette et cetera.

With Dear Old Dad constantly whispering in his ear that he's bad seed, that he can't measure up to Stalwart Clark, jealousy and competitiveness could easily lead him astray.

Sam. I've seen him described as "Emo Boy" in various places, and boy does that fit!

I second that. I wish he'd turn evil already so that Redneck Bob can kill him and spare us the weep fests.

His reaction over having to kill the werewolf? Please. You spent one night with her and she's your soul mate all of a sudden?

Yeah, I'd have liked the episode better if he hadn't slept with her. Been attracted to her? Sure. Wanted to sleep with her? Definitely. But never actually did.

Because then it's clearer that his angst has to do with the fact that he sees himself in her. She is someone who is becoming a monster through no fault of her own, and that there's nothing to be done to stop it. She'll always be a monster, no matter how much she (they) wish it were otherwise. It's still an angstfest, but less muddled.

The whole "doomed to become a monster" thing annoys me anyhow. Why do we need that plot point? Aren't the Winchester boys' lives hard enough already, risking their lives weekly to slay monsters--while trying to stay out of the hands of the authorities? What about free will? Get bit by a werewolf? Okay, you're screwed. But until you volunteer to make a deal with a demon, your soul is your own. Or should be.

Perhaps they had him sleep with the girl because he always blows off women who come on to him, and with all the blush and lipstick he wears in the promos, people were beginning to think he may be gay.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I agree: The "demon has plans for you" bit was completely unnecessary. Big nasty demon that is the one demon you really want to kill? Fine. Demon has big plans for the boy? A tired plot device that does little to enhance the overall story.
