Buffy fanfic seed
Oct. 12th, 2003 09:38 pmXander has spent most of Christmas Day with Buffy and Joyce, avoiding his own family. But it's evening now, and it's time for him to face the music. So he says his goodbyes and wanders off. Upon reaching the Harris domicile, Xander spies a beat up classic car sitting on the street. Could it be? Then he notices a tall, dark figure lurking by the car.
Xander approaches the mysterious stranger, almost certain. The stranger speaks, remarking on Xander's conspicuous absence from the domestic bliss that is the Harris home (shouts of drunken anger can be heard issuing from within). Xander returns fire with an equally cutting remark about the stranger's habit of loitering on the curb drinking a beer instead of enjoying the warmth and cheer within. Then they both grin and greet one another.
It's Xander's favorite--and seldom-seen--relative. His distant uncle, Ash Harris. As in Ash from Evil Dead 2 and Bruce Campbell vs the Army of Darkness.
I'm not sure where it would go from here. But there are a few things that have to be worked into it:
Xander discovers his uncle's artificial hand and drags the story out of him. Ash obviously expects the typical reaction. Instead, Xander nods sagely and shares some of his war stories. I'd really like to be able to have Xander and Ash compares wounds (Ash's missing hand, Xander's lost eye), but that would require acknowledging the existence of Dawn, as well as the storylines of Season Sux and Seven. Not bloody likely.
A monster attack is a foregone conclusion. Ash still hasn't said the words correctly. So he keeps getting attacked by the Forces of Evil. Lots of combat. Buffy shows up.
Huddling with Giles, doing research. Ash is very suspicious of the books. Eventually they have a climactic confrontation with the Forces of Evil. Buffy wields stake and sword. Ash makes liberal use of his boom-stick!. Ultimately, Ash does finally say everything single, solitary sylabble right (under the watchful glare of Buffy, more likely than not), and the evil is vanquished at last.
