Note: If you're not familiar with the Feng Shui role-playing game, it's based on countless kung fu and pulp-style action movies. The world is divided into two kinds of people: Named Characters, who have complete stats and access to phenomenal powers, skills and abilities, and Mooks, nameless redshirts who exist to be defeated in awe-inspiring numbers by the fantastically powerful Named Characters. Kill Bill makes extensive use of this property of cinematic physics.

Note: Blue Planet is another in an endless stream of role-playing games. I've never played it. I know nothing about it except that it's a sci fi game set on an alien planet. And, apparently, it involves dolphins with fricking laser beams....

This is, of course, pure slander. While Steurgon's Law applies to fanfic as much as to everything else, the fact is that a lot of fanfic is damn good. Sturgeon's Law says that it would have to be. The 10% of fanfic that isn't crap must encompass a huge volume of fiction, giving the gigabytes and gigabytes of fanfic that exist.
